  Metabolic Testing for Weight Management

As you know, the key to successful weight loss is to burn more calories than you eat. One of the most fundamental and difficult questions is, how many calories do I burn?

A simple 10-minute breathing test can measure metabolic rate [RMR] using the same method as used in leading research hospitals. This test will tell precisely how many calories are burned at rest. This is the baseline needed to measure the precise number of calories needed for weight management. Combine that with a moderate exercise programs and good nutrition offers the tools for weight management.

It will also tell if an individual's metabolic rate is fast or slow, how many calories are needed to consume to achieve weight loss goals or maintain present weight.

How is the test done? It is as easy as 1-2-3!

RELAX.  It is important to be able to reach a resting state during the test. So site back and relax. Prior to the test it is suggested to avoid activities strenuous exercise or stressful situations that will prevent you from relaxing. Digesting a large meal, as well as taking stimulants, such as caffeine, can raise your metabolic rate and should also be avoided prior to your test.

 

2.

GET HOOKED UP.  Just sit comfortably while being tested. The technician will then place a nose clip on your nose and you will be given a disposable mouthpiece to breathe through. This mouthpiece is connected to the analyzer by a hose that will measure how much oxygen you are breathing out. Both the mouthpiece and the tubing are sterile items that will be used only for you.

 

3.

BREATHE.  Finally, you just sit back and breathe. The analyzer will indicate when it has calculated your metabolic rate. This takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes. The more relaxed and even your breathing, the quicker it will be able to determine your resting metabolic rate.

 

IT IS JUST THAT EASY!!  In just 10 minutes, you know precisely how many calories your body is burning. Your diet can then be tailored to maintain the right caloric balance. An optional nutritional assessment  can put participants back on the road to better health and weight management!
