About one in every
four American adults has high blood pressure. Once high blood
pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime. The good news is
that it can be treated and controlled.
High blood
pressure is called "the silent killer" because it usually has no
symptoms. Some people may not find out they have it until they have
trouble with their heart, brain, or kidneys.
This simple
screening can identify individuals with pre-hypertension and alert
those on medication if their blood pressure is not within desired
range.
American
Heart Association Guidelines are followed.
Educational
materials and counseling provided.
Taking it one step further.
Initial screenings identify those
"at risk" individuals who would then benefit by on-site
quarterly screenings and coaching.
Blood Pressure testing is a
component of the Metabolic
Syndrome and should be an integral part of a health fair
wellness initiative.
